Lucie Chaumeton moved from Burgundy to London in 1992, aged 20. She started keeping bees at her home in East Finchley in 2017. Her beehives expanded year on year, and she started generating a profit from local sales of her jams, honey and other hive products, and for the last 2 years she has been donating all her profits to the Finchley Foodbank.
As of this year, and after studying for seven modules on subjects ranging from pests and diseases to bee behaviour and bee breeding, Lucie holds the Advanced Theory Certificate awarded by the British Beekeepers Association.
Lucie’s talk will cover the fascinating life-cycle and clever behaviours of honeybees, outline her work as a beekeeper through the year, as well as touching on the fate of wild bees and other important and vastly more endangered pollinators in the UK.
