Foundation Stones is inspired by the Jewish custom of leaving small stones when visiting a grave to show that the person is remembered. Foundation Stones are a promise to remember the past.
Stones are also used to build things so Foundation Stones are also a promise to build a future free from all forms of prejudice, discrimination and hatred.
Join us this month to paint a stone to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi persecution. Every stone painted will become part of the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in London when it is built.
You can also choose to paint your stone to remember those murdered in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
The Learning Centre beneath the Memorial will contain an exhibition on subsequent genocides.
