Using the life stories of key female artists from different periods and different parts of the world, this lively lecture shows us just what is lost when unconventional women are made to fit into pigeon holes.
Ann Marie Michel is an American journalist based in the North West for the last 15 years. She has written extensively on art themes for radio documentaries and the New York-based art magazine ARTnews, and now speaks regularly to such groups as the WI, Mother's Union, Probus, Masonic Lodges, U3A and various other community leisure groups. She has a colourful background including years of broadcasting in the Netherlands and Switzerland, so is a professional and engaging speaker. She has travelled extensively for her work and is multi-lingual. She has also worked as writer-in-residence at HMP Lancaster Castle (it closed as a prison in 2011) and is
now part of the Regional Heritage Centre at Lancaster University.
